

Local Firm bridges Opportunities to Filipino Nurses Overseas
Forty nurses out of 298 on November 20, 2009 were recognized for deployment in Jordan through Al Khalidi Medical Centerl after undergoing extensive process of interview and screening.
A series of interview was held on New Horizon Hotel in Mandaluyong City on November 18 to 19, 2009 and Capitol Complex in Lingayen Pangasinan on November 20, 2009 for the selection of registered Nurses to be deployed in Amman Jordan. The said event started after the arrival of the Al Khalidi Medical Center Nursing Director Mr. Mahmoud Abu-Doush and ICU Nursing Head Mr. Abdel Rahman Alqawasmeh to the Philippines.
The interview in Manila was divided into two days, the first day being the more intricate for applicants who have had enough experience for the position of Staff Nurse. The Second day was devoted to 2008 and beyond graduates to get acquainted to the employers since they were the ones who lack two-year hospital experiences or trainings. The last stretch of interview was held in Lingayen Pangasinan.
Capt. Rommel Gacutan, President and General Manager of Japan Maruko International Corporation (JMK), said that JMK has been addressing the concerns of Filipinos situated in rural areas that they visit provinces like Pangasinan. He added that Nurses situated in far places should share equal opportunity of landing a career abroad.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abu-Doush stated that such experience has changed his perspective of Filipino people toward work and social aspects. The Jordanian employers commended JMK for its professionalism in accommodating both the applicants and Al Khalidi saying that it has not mistaken to trust JMK and Filipino Nurses since Al Khalidi is the number one hospital in Jordan and is applauded by other nations for the quality of its Hospital Service.
Because of the overwhelming atmosphere that the Al-Khalidi Directors felt, they decided to possibly pursue training courses in the Philippines for Filipino Nurses who could later on be part of the work force in Jordan. He added that it is about time to raise the standards of Philippine Nurses since they are all good and competitive in their own rights.
Also, Mr. Abu-Doush stressed that it would be a great undertaking to upgrade the trainings of Nurses in the Philippines as he confirms that all of the training offered to Nurses locally are not recognized globally. He also affirmed of foreseeing Al-Khalidi to be the key to this promising arrangement.
On November 21, 2009, the selected Nurses signed their contracts which were brought by the employers for further review in Jordan. After the selection, the chosen applicants would undergo necessary processes for deployment.
